CourseCrush is a UX-focused project developed collaboratively by a team of five students, including myself, as part of a design thinking course. The project explored five real-world usability issues in everyday apps—Canvas mobile, iMessage, Photoshop, iPhone Camera, and Reddit—each tackled through user-centered redesign concepts. We conducted contextual analysis, identified interface pain points, and proposed solutions tailored to specific user needs. My primary focus was redesigning the iMessage experience to improve message organization and media sharing.
College students at large institutions like UCSD struggle to plan their four-year course schedules due to scattered information, unpredictable course offerings, and enrollment system complexities. This often results in schedule conflicts, unmet prerequisites, delayed graduation, and heightened academic stress.
Problem Identified
Solution Proposed
We proposed CourseCrush, a centralized web app that combines enrollment timelines, prerequisite tracking, historical course data, professor reviews, and community insights. By offering predictive tools and peer-driven forums, CourseCrush empowers students to build smarter, personalized academic plans while fostering a supportive planning community.
